The Position

What you'll
actually do.

Direct Support Staff play a foundational role in AFLH's residential programs. These are the people youth see every day — and that consistency matters.

Structure

Implement daily schedules, routines and activity plans that create predictability and stability for youth in care.

Safety

Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment through attentive supervision, de-escalation and emergency response procedures.

Documentation

Complete required shift notes, incident reports and service documentation accurately and within required timeframes.

Provide direct supervision and safety monitoring of adolescents during assigned shift.
Implement individualized service plans and behavioral support strategies as directed.
Facilitate and support daily living skills, activities, programming and scheduled routines.
Transport youth to appointments, activities and other off-site locations as assigned.
Administer or assist with medications under the direction of a licensed clinical professional.
Coordinate with clinical and program staff on progress, concerns and incident follow-up.
Complete shift notes, incident reports, logs and required documentation on time.
Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, dignity and respect at all times.
Complete residential responsibilities that support a safe, clean program environment.

AFLH is looking for dependable professionals who can work consistently with adolescents in a structured behavioral health residential setting. Final eligibility is based on the requirements applicable to the position and successful completion of AFLH's hiring and onboarding process.

Reliable attendance, punctuality and dependable communication.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Ability to follow written plans, procedures and supervisor direction.
Comfort working with adolescents who may have behavioral health, emotional or trauma-related needs.
Ability to document services, observations and incidents accurately and within required timeframes.
Ability to respond appropriately during behavioral or emergency situations.
Successful completion of required screening, orientation, training and competency requirements.
Ability to work collaboratively with residential, behavioral health and leadership teams.
Important: Direct Support Staff responsibilities are performed in accordance with AFLH policies, individualized service plans, safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Specific hiring, screening and training requirements are reviewed with candidates during the hiring process.
